Violent… Carragher attacks Salah after Sloat’s dismissal

Former Liverpool star and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has hit out at Reds legend Mohamed Salah following the club’s decision to sack manager Arne Sloat, voicing his displeasure with the way the Egyptian star was treated last season.

Carragher confirmed he was surprised by the decision to sack Sloat, noting that all the indicators released by the club pointed to him continuing, but he also strongly criticized what he described as the influence of some players on the manager’s fortunes.

“I am not happy with what happened and I would never want Liverpool players to have the power to speak against a manager who has won the Premier League.”

He added: “What is the use of one of the stars of the team publicly criticizing his coach? It should not happen, regardless of the circumstances.”

He singled out English analyst Mohamed Salah for criticism, referring to a post made during the season of the Egyptian national team captain, which harshly criticized Sloat’s technical staff.

“I didn’t like Mohamed Salah’s post, and I didn’t think it was appropriate to make such matters public. Who among us agrees with all the coaches he’s worked with?

He continued. “Football players deal with many managers during their careers, but they cannot take to social media to comment on their manager or show their support for criticism of him.”

Carragher believed that these actions could reflect the existence of problems in the Liverpool dressing room, adding: “This can show what has happened in the team recently, which makes it difficult for the new coach because he has to rearrange the situation in the dressing room.”

Despite his criticism of Salah, Carragher stressed that Slott bears part of the blame for the slump in results, but stressed that the management and players also share the blame after a disappointing season that ended without a title.

The Liverpool legend concluded his remarks by stressing that the biggest challenge facing the new manager will be restoring discipline to the squad and getting the Reds back on track after a season that has seen much turmoil on and off the pitch.
