Cote d’Ivoire scored a dramatic last-second victory (1-0) against Ecuador in the early hours of Monday in the first round of Group E of the 2026 World Cup.
The only goal of the match was scored by substitute Manchester United star Amad Diallo in the 90th minute after Wilfried Sengo’s ground pass, which he put into the net with one touch.
Ecuador dominated most of the first halfHe missed more than one chance and the post prevented him from scoring twice in a row in the 23rd and 30th minutes.
But in the second half, Cote d’Ivoire woke up and began to trade attacks with Ecuador, but both teams failed to score, knowing that the cross prevented the Elephants from scoring as well.
With this dramatic victory, the Ivory Coast national team increased its point to 3 points, remaining second on goal difference behind Germany, who beat Curaçao yesterday (7-1) on Sunday.
