Atlas Lions continue their impressive performances
In the second round of Group C of the 2026 World Cup, the Moroccan team won a valuable victory over Scotland (1-0) at the “Foxboro” Stadium, leading the “Atlas Lions” by 4 points in the group standings.
Ismail Sibari scored the only goal of the match early in the second minute with a rocket into the top left corner of Angus Gunn’s goal after Ibrahim Diaz’s pass on the right edge of the penalty area.
With this victory, the Moroccan team leads Group C with 4 points, pending the result of the Brazil-Haiti match later the same day, while Scotland is temporarily frozen in second place with 3 points.

Scotland, who opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over Haiti, relied on a cohesive defensive formation with a five-man back line with Scott McTominay and Lewis Ferguson at the centre, Ryan Christie and John McGinn on the wings, with Che Adams leading the charge.
On the other hand, the Morocco coach fielded the same squad that drew 1-1 with Brazil in the opening round, with the midfield strengthened with Ibrahim Diaz, Azedine Ounahi and Bilal Khanous alongside Ismail Sibari.
Morocco dominated the first half as Saibari almost scored a second goal from Onahi’s excellent cross (10th minute), Jean blocked Achraf Hakimi’s dangerous shot (18th minute) and Neil El Ainaoui missed from Diaz’s cross (30th minute).

Despite Morocco’s clear dominance, the Atlas Lions’ inaccuracy in the final third prevented them from settling early as Bilal Al-Khanous wasted a golden opportunity with a shot over the bar (36th minute), while Scotland leveled before the end of the first half without any real danger.
Morocco came back more determined in the second half as Saibari’s shot hit the post (50th minute), Jean cleared a dangerous Al-Khannoos shot (52nd minute) and Hakimi’s shot hit the post (62nd minute).
Despite intermittent attempts by Scotland to get back into the game, including Ryan Christie’s shot from outside the area (64th minute) and another powerful shot from McTominay deflected into the side-netting (84th minute), Morocco managed to manage the second half smartly and maintain their lead until the final whistle.
