Video: Sweden star scores early goal against Tunisia and refuses to celebrate

Yassin Ayari scored an early goal for Sweden against Tunisia in the seventh minute of the two teams’ first-round Group E encounter at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the early hours of Monday.

The goal came after a clear defensive mix-up, a mistake by goalkeeper Mohib Chamakh, and the ball found its way to Victor Geukeris, who pounced and the Tunisian defense cleared it off the goal line, so Ayari took it and powerfully fired into the net.

Brighton’s Al-Ayari refused to celebrate his goal against Tunisia and raised his hands in apology as his teammates cheered for the early goal.

Ayari is of Tunisian descent, as he was born in Sweden to a Tunisian father and a Moroccan mother, but he eventually chose to represent Sweden after being eligible to represent Tunisia and Morocco as well.

It is noteworthy that the teams of Tunisia and Sweden are competing in the fifth group. Holland and Japan, who drew 2-2 on Sunday night.
