Bad feedback haunts him
A video of an American TV reporter has gone viral after he claimed he didn’t know where Bosnia and Herzegovina was ahead of the 2026 World Cup round of 32 match against the US national team.
The American team under coach Mauricio Pochettino secured their place as the leaders in Group D after a crushing 4-1 win over Paraguay, followed by a 2-0 win over Australia.
Having already secured their place in the knockout rounds, Pochettino opted to rely on a vastly revamped squad against Turkey in their final group stage match, which the Americans lost 3-2.
As for Bosnia’s road to the qualifiers, it was less easy in Group Two, where they drew 1-1 with hosts Canada before losing 4-1 to Switzerland. However, a 3-1 win against Qatar in the last game was enough to move out of third place.
Many Americans are confident that Bosnia will have no problem advancing to the round of 16, and perhaps beyond, including ABC7’s Abigail Velez, whose video went viral in which she bragged that she doesn’t even know where Bosnia is on a map.
“In the next round, the American team will play against Bosnia next Wednesday. The truth is, I can’t find Bosnia on a map.”

He continued. “I don’t know anything about Bosnia and I don’t want to know. That’s because Team USA is back and we’re better than ever. Get ready, people of Bosnia, because you don’t want this. You don’t want it this way. But you’re going to face it.”
The site commented Talk Sports: “Although the reporter was not familiar with Bosnia, the NBA has thrived thanks to talents like Bojan Bogdanovic, Jusuf Nurkic and Dragan Bender.”

The same site posted some harsh reactions from fans to Velez’s comments, with one X site user saying: “How can a journalist brag about your geographic ignorance?”
The third added: “Why are you taking it live?” Before a third came in saying, “Americans celebrate willful ignorance like it’s a badge of honor,” said another. “You don’t need to know, but shouldn’t you as a journalist want to know?” I don’t know… professional standards, editorial standards, all that nonsense.”
The sixth wrote: “Come on Bosnia, I hope you beat them. They have become so arrogant since they discovered football last month.”
Edin Dzeko’s (38-year-old) Bosnia-Herzegovina beat Italy on penalties to qualify for the World Cup and now they are looking to oust Pochettino’s side.
