Paraguay enters the round of 16 and awaits the winner of the France-Sweden match.
Paraguay stunned Germany in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup by defeating them on penalties (4-3) after a 1-1 draw after regular and extra time in the early hours of Tuesday at the Boston Stadium in the United States of America.
With this victory, Paraguay enters the 1/8 finals of the World Cup and awaits the winner of the France-Sweden match scheduled for next Wednesday dawn.
Paraguay opened the scoring first through Julio Enciso with a brilliant header in the 42nd minute after receiving a cross from teammate Matias Galarza.
Germany went into the second half looking for a quick equaliser, and they got what they wanted in the 54th minute with another header from Kai Havertz after a great cross from Florian Wirtz.

Kimmich, Musiala and Amiri scored for Germany, while Havertz, Woltemad and Tah missed.
On the other hand, Mauricio, Gomez, Galarza and Canale scored for Paraguay, while Sanbria and Balbuena missed.
Germany qualified for the World Cup Round of 32 by topping Group E with six points after two wins against Curaçao (7-1) and Ivory Coast (2-1), in addition to a 2-1 loss to Ecuador.
Paraguay, on the other hand, achieved the same feat, finishing third in Group D with 4 points, after a 1-0 win against Turkey and a goalless draw against Australia, apart from a heavy defeat against America (4-1).
