The Saudi Arabian full-back spoke after the draw with Cape Verde
Nawaf Bushel, the full-back of the Saudi Arabian national team, refused to consider that the “Greens” team failed after the early farewell to the 2026 World Cup.
The Saudi Arabian team was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stageAfter a goalless draw with Cape Verde at dawn on Saturday in the third and final round at NRG Stadium in the American city of Houston.
Bushel said in a statement to the Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat after the game. “This is an act of fate. We tried to give what we had and more, but at the end of the day this is a written question.”
He added: “Of course, leaving this tournament is not a good thing, but this is written and we will try to make up for it next time.”
He concluded. “There is no failure in football, but there is victory and defeat. We tried and we strived, but this is fate. It’s never a failure. It’s true that ambition is not just participation, it’s destiny and we will work to make our fans happy in the upcoming games.”
It is noteworthy that this is the sixth time in a row that the Saudi Arabian national team has failed to qualify for the second round of the World Cup, while the only success was in 1994 with the first participation.
