Emam Ashour stole the show in the clash between Egypt and Belgium in the two teams’ 2026 World Cup opener when he scored a stunning goal that won the admiration of fans and followers around the world, including popular media personality and comedian Trevor Noah.

During live World Cup coverage, Trevor Noah expressed his admiration for the Egypt star’s goal as he watched the rocket that rattled Thibaut Courtois’ net to give the Pharaohs a first-half lead.

“What a great finish, what a celebration,” Noah said after seeing the goal, before trying to mimic the player’s celebration live.

The former Daily Show host continued his praise of the goal, saying: “Oh my love… what a shot,” while describing the goal as “fiery” after it impressed the studio audience.

After the taping, Imam Ashour’s celebration also caught the attention of Trevor Noah, as he compared the way he celebrated to that of popular Irish fighter Conor McGregor, before repeating the question more than once during the conversation with his guests.

Noah’s reaction mirrored the global resonance of Emam Ashour’s goal, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful goals of the tournament so far, when the Egypt international fired a powerful shot from outside the box past Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Although the game ended in a 1-1 draw after a mistaken own goal by Mohamed Hani, Imam Ashour’s goal remained the highlight of the match, leading the Pharaohs player… Winning the Mac of the Match award It gained wide recognition inside and outside of Egypt.
