Today, on Wednesday evening, the Argentine national team reserved its place in the finals of the 2026 World Cup in the semifinals held at the “Mercedes-Benz” stadium in the American city of Atlanta, where it scheduled a day with Spain after losing a decisive victory over England (2-1).
The first half witnessed a tense atmosphere and repeated altercations between players from both teams, a natural extension of the long rivalry and rivalry between the two sides.

The second half was different as England took the lead through Anthony Gordon in the 55th minute and the Three Lions retreated into their own areas, defending their lead against a flurry of Argentine attacks, before Enzo Fernandez equalized in the 85th minute from Lionel Messi’s cross.
As the match went into two extra-times, Lautaro Martinez grabbed Argentina’s winner in the 90th minute (90+2), heading the Tango Dancers into the final with a dramatic header from Messi’s cross.
With this victory, the Argentine national team continues its campaign to defend the title of world champion, as next Sunday, Tuesday, it will meet its Spanish counterpart in the final of the tournament after defeating La Roja France (2-0) in the other semi-final.
