Video: Hossam Hasan wins a bet against Zico in the World Cup

The coach of the Egyptian national team, Hossam Hassan, won his bet against New Zealand, which brought them together today, in the second round of Group Seven of the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.

New Zealand took the lead in the 15th minute through Finn Surman, and after a flurry of attempts by the Pharaohs, Zico scored Egypt’s goal in the 59th minute with a powerful header from right-back Mohamed Hani.

Zico (29) scored the third goal in his fourth international game after scoring in pre-World Cup friendlies against Russia and Brazil.

Pharaohs coach Hossam Hassan gambled on Zico, preferred him over many players and started him in Egypt’s World Cup games against Belgium and New Zealand.

Pyramids’ Zico did not disappoint Hossam Hasan who has been outstanding in the friendlies and scored a valuable goal against New Zealand today.

In the same match, Zico also created the second goal of the Pharaohs, which was scored by his partner Mohamed Salah.
