Team Canada crushed their Qatari counterpart (6-0) for their first ever World Cup win after a match that saw two Al-Anabi players sent off and dramatic events.
With the win, Team Canada increased their lead to four points at the top of Group Two at the 2026 World Cup, while Qatar’s score dropped to one point in fourth and last place.

Canada took the lead in the 16th minute through their star man, Cyle Larin, who followed Qatari goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada’s rebound, and Juventus forward Jonathan David scored the second with a rocket of a shot in the 29th minute.
Al-Anabi’s troubles did not stop there as their player Hamam Al-Amin was sent off in the 33rd minute after obstructing Sail Larin as he was on his way to tackle goalkeeper Abu Nada.
The referee initially awarded a penalty, then went back to the video technology and decided to award a direct free kick near the line of the penalty area, and the Qatari player was sent off.
Before the end of the first half, Jonathan David scored his second and third goals for Canada in a minute (45 + 3) off a rebound from Abu Nada behind the goal line.
Another eviction and total collapse
The start of the second half was painful for Qatar as they were dealt a further blow in the 54th minute when their player Assem Madibo also received a straight red card for a fierce tackle on Canadian player Ismail Kone, who was stretchered off to cheers from the fans.
Kone’s injury was serious as his leg appeared to be broken, while the Canadian players put their hands over their heads and initially tried to tackle Madibo.
However, the Qatari player expressed his deep impact on Kone’s injury, which prompted Canadian players to empathize with him and comfort him as he left the field.
In the 64th minute, Nathan Saliba, who replaced the injured Ismail Kone, scored the Canadians’ fourth goal from a direct free kick.
Qatar’s Mohamed Al-Mannai made matters worse by scoring an own goal in the 75th minute when he tried to clear the ball, but it went into his own goal.
Jonathan David completed Canada’s hat-trick and his personal hat-trick (90+2) in the 90th minute, so the match ended with a historic victory for the home team (6-0).
