Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais was the hero of an exceptional strike at the 2026 World Cup in Cape Verde after he brilliantly blocked a dangerous attack.
The Saudi Arabian national team met with Cape Verde today, SaturdayIn the third, last round of the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the NRG Stadium in Houston, USA.
In the 74th minute of the match, the Cape Verde national team came close to scoring the first goal, after their player was completely alone from the goal of Mohammed Al Owais.
Although the team was alone in front of the six-yard area, Al Owais made a brilliant save by throwing himself in front of a player and the ball collided with him for a corner.
As soon as the ball came out, many of the Saudi Arabian national team players went to the veteran goalkeeper to congratulate him for this historic save that saved them from conceding the first goal.

Al Owais continued his brilliance with Saudi Arabia in the ongoing World Cup campaign, after making nine saves against Uruguay in the first round and four against Spain in the second leg, despite a 4-0 defeat.
Notably, Al Owais had a historic night as he earned his seventh World Cup cap for Saudi Arabia, making him the second most capped goalkeeper for the Greens at the World Cup behind Muhammad Al Deaya (10) and sixth overall.
