Scot Steve Nicoll, the legend of “Liverpool”, criticized the Moroccan team participating in the 2026 World Cup, stressing that the team will not reach the semi-finals.
Morocco qualified for the Round of 32 as runners-up in their group Only behind leaders Brazil on goal difference as they managed to beat Scotland and Haiti and draw with Samba.
The Arab team stood out against Brazil to international acclaim as Morocco came closest to victory.
But strangely, despite this, Steve Nicol was unimpressed with Morocco’s performance and even confirmed that the team will not repeat their feat in the 2022 edition when they reach the semi-finals.
While analyzing Scotland’s matches against Brazil and Haiti against Morocco during his appearance on ESPN, Steve said: “There was absolutely no consistency in this team (Morocco) in the three matches.”

He continued. “They’re just reviews… reviews of a great game, reviews of a very bad game, reviews where they seem uninterested. Against Scotland in particular, they seemed to think the game was over before it was over.”
“They didn’t show us anything that suggested they would actually challenge for the title and if I was a Morocco fan, after the first game (against Brazil) I would have thought we had a chance to go far again at the World Cup. But after that, I feel like they’re going downhill.”
The “Liverpool” legend continued. “I know they beat Scotland 1-0 but they weren’t impressive. They weren’t good today, except when the Haitian players got tired.”
He mentioned: “It is very difficult to say that they will reach the semi-finals again. I think they will go down again, to be honest I can see them reaching the quarter finals probably depending on second place in the group. It will be difficult.”
“I can see them getting to the round of 16 or the quarter-finals, but I don’t see them going any further.”
