The French striker surprises his rival after a friendly match
A friendly match between Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and Mouloudiya Algeria saw a remarkable shootout involving France star Karim Benzema after he took the initiative to claim the shirt of one of the Algerian players, a scene that drew widespread criticism after the match.
Despite Al Hilal losing 2-0 to Mouloudiya Algeria, Benzema grabbed the spotlight after the final whistle when he agreed to give his shirt to Algerian-French midfielder Charafedin Bouhleda before surprising him by asking for his shirt too.
Bou Khalda expressed his surprise at the request of Al Hilal captain, saying: “Do you want me to give you my jersey?” in a photo published on Mouloudia Algiers’ official page in “X” and it reflects the spirit of mutual respect between the players.
The exchange of shirts continued in the dressing room, where Bou Khalda brought his shirt to Benzema, who appeared smiling and happy during their post-match meeting.
Bukhalda is 30 years old. He previously graduated from Monaco’s French academy and also played for Lille’s reserve team before having a few experiences outside of France, arriving at Mouloudia Algeria.
As for Benzema, who is 38, he joined Al Hilal last February and is tied to a contract that runs until June 2027.
At the end of last season, the French striker had several physical problems which affected his participation as he made only 10 out of 16 league appearances during that period.
