Morocco defender Issa Diop saved his country from an early exit from the 2026 World Cup by netting in stoppage time to draw the Netherlands 1-1 at the Monterrey Stadium in Mexico early on Tuesday in the 32nd round of the tournament.

The goal sparked joy among Moroccan fans, especially as it came at a crucial time as the Dutch looked to begin their World Cup round of 16 campaign.

Holland took the lead in the 72nd minute through Cody Jacobo Who broke down in tears after losing her expected baby to partner Noah van der Bij, who was five months pregnant, two days before the Morocco game.

It is noteworthy that the winner of this match will meet in the round of 16 with Canada, who won (1-0) in South Africa.
