Video: Crescent upset in the last round of the Saudi Arabian League

Video technology quickly settled the dispute and disallowed Al Hilal’s second goal for offside in a strike that was enough to change the course of the Saudi Roshan League fixture.

In the thirty-fourth and final round of the Roshan League, Al Hilal hosted Al Fayha at the Al Majmaah Sports City Stadium today, Thursday.

Footage showed a moment of confusion after the goal before the video assistant referee intervened to review Marcos Leonardo’s goal in the 37th minute.

The replay shown on the screens around the stadium showed that the Al Hilal player was clearly offside at the time of the ball, so the decision “PLAY” was written on the screen.

The decision returned the game to its previous status and left the scoreline unchanged at 1-0 to Al-Zaim, amid a mixed reaction from Al-Hilal players, who appeared in live footage as they waited for the referee’s confirmation before the assistant raised his flag to declare the goal disallowed.

The tackle gave “comfort and confidence” to the opposition team who were trailing, while signs of the mind were clearly visible on the Al-Fayha coach as he watched from the technical area.
