Video: Boualem’s historic goal confirms Europe’s suffering against Asia

Boualem Khokhi rescued Qatar from defeat by Switzerland with a decisive goal in the 90+5 minutes to earn Al-Anabi their first ever point at the World Cup this Saturday evening (1-1).

The Qatar team lost to Ecuador (2-0), Senegal (3-1), Holland (2-0) in the first three matches of the 2022 World Cup at home.

Qatar’s victory is a further indication of the transformation witnessed in the last two games of the World Cup between the teams of Asia and Europe.

In the last 12 World Cup matches, European Union teams have only won 4 against Asian teams since the 2022 edition, drawing 2 and losing 6, which is a marked drop from the previous two games, when European teams won 10 of 15 games and lost just one against 4 draws.

Switzerland and Qatar play in the second group of the World Cup, which also includes Bosnia and Herzegovina and co-host Canada.

In the first match of the group, Canada drew with Bosnia (1-1), and the European team took the lead on goal difference, before the hosts equalized the score.
