Kazuyoshi Miura doesn’t know the impossible
Japanese football legend Kazuyoshi Miura, nicknamed ‘King Kazu’, proved that age is just a number after he once again wrote his name in the annals of history by scoring an official goal at the age of fifty-nine, going on to write one of the most exceptional football careers in the history of the game.
Miura scored his goal in his Fukushima United team’s 7-0 Kaiser Cup win over Iwaki Furukawa, guiding his side to the next round of the tournament.
King Kazu’s goal came in the 52nd minute of the match when he took advantage of a perfect pass in the penalty area and hit the ball directly into the net with his first touch to make it 5-0 at the age of 59 years and 149 days.
The goal sparked cheers on the pitch and among his teammates on the bench, before the veteran striker left the match three minutes later to applause from the fans and coaching staff.

It is Miura’s first goal in an official game since November 2022, when he scored for Suzuka PG, currently known as Atletico Suzuka, in his side’s defeat to FC Osaka in the Japanese league.
Despite the years, the Japanese striker continues to defy time, maintaining his great passion for football and his desire to continue inside the green rectangle.
Miura is set to enter his world-record 40th professional season after extending his loan spell at Fukushima United until June 2027.
The veteran striker joined the club from Yokohama last December and made six appearances for the side during the shortened 2026 season before finally scoring again.
With the Japanese professional league set to switch to an autumn and spring system, Miura will turn sixty years old while still a professional player, adding a new chapter to one of the longest and greatest careers in football history, proving that passion and determination can break all barriers.
