One of its most popular stars in the tournament, Folarin Balogun, opened the scoring for the American team in the 45th minute.

But Balogun made a mistake that saw him sent off in the 64th minute when he ran into a Bosnian player’s ankle during a joint play, which the referee decided by going back to video technology.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Bosnia was unable to impose its dominance in the game, and the USA even managed to extend its lead with a second goal, a free kick by Malik Tillman in the 82nd minute.

Tillman became the first player from the United States to score on a free kick at the World Cup since Erik Wijnalda against Switzerland on June 18, 1994.

Bosnia pressed hard after America’s second goal and had several attempts to score, but their shots lacked precision, and the match ended with the USA advancing to the Round of 16.
