Video: Al-Nasr and Al-Qadisiya referee saves Ronaldo from the fangs

The referee famously intervened in more than one shootout during Sunday night’s clash between Al-Qadisiya and Al-Nasr after he directly influenced the course of some dangerous chances witnessed early in the game.

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al-Nasr, missed two straight goals against Al-Qadisiya, but the referee decided to raise the flag.

On the first chance, in the 27th minute, Ronaldo got a pass behind the Al-Qadisiyya defenders, only to find the Belgian Castells, the Al-Qadisiyya goalkeeper, in front of him. He decided to retreat in a strange way before the referee raised his flag.

In the 33rd minute, Ronaldo received another one-on-one pass, but he shot the ball carelessly and Castiles blocked it before the referee raised the offside flag.

The referee’s flag seems to have saved Ronaldo from the fangs of the fans, as if the goal had been awarded in either of the two kicks, the discussion would have been entirely different about wasted chances, especially as two separate moments could have changed the course of the match early on and given Al-Nasr a clear advantage at a crucial moment in the match.
