Video: Again… Mbappe compares himself to Ronaldo

French star Kylian Mbappe continued his brilliance on an individual level with Real Madrid on the closing night of the 2025-2026 La Liga season.

Mbappe scored the Merengues’ third goal against their away team Athletic Bilbao in the 38th round this Saturday evening, helping the Merengues win 4-2.

Mbappe added a brilliant new chapter to his golden record for Real Madrid this season, reaching his 42nd goal.

According to Statsfoot statistics, Mbappe became only the second player in Real Madrid history to score 86 goals in all official competitions in his first two seasons with the Real Madrid, after legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe scored 44 goals in his first season (2024-2025) and 42 goals in his second season (2025-2026) after facing Athletic Bilbao.

This achievement is considered exceptional, as it was preceded only by Ronaldo, who scored 33 goals in the 2009–2010 season and 53 goals in the 2010–2011 season after moving from Manchester United.

By the end of 2025, Mbappe had equaled Ronaldo’s astonishing record as he became the Don who scored the most goals in a single year in Real Madrid’s history with 59 goals.

Kylian Mbappe also became the first French player in history to surpass the 25-goal mark in five consecutive major league seasons in six seasons.

Mbappe has excelled since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024, but his personal numbers have not helped the team at a collective level and he has yet to win any major trophies.
