Video: A taste of Morocco’s defeat in a draw with Brazil


Morocco and Brazil drew 1-1 in the first round of the 2026 World Cup group stage this Sunday morning.

Morocco were the better side for most of the match and had a wide range of dangerous chances but failed to convert them into goals.

Morocco entered the game with intense offensive pressing, as a result of which Ismail Sibari scored a wonderful goal in the 21st minute after a special pass by Brahim Diaz.

The Moroccan team almost quickly increased its advantage with Diaz’s shot, but the goalkeeper Alison Becker closed it firmly.

On the other hand, the Brazilian team quickly organized itself and in the 32nd minute Vinicius Junior equalized the score with a great shot from inside the penalty area.

The teams of Morocco and Brazil entered the second half with defensive caution to avoid shaking the net.

Atlas Lions coach Mohamed Wehbi brought on Chams Edin Talebi and Samir Al Murabit instead of Dias and Azedin Ounahi in the 65th minute.

Morocco goalkeeper Yassin Bounou blocked more than one dangerous chance for Samba and fell to the ground after an unintended intervention by Rafinha.

In the 89th minute, Webb decided to bring on Ismail Saibari and bring on Sofia Rahimi in an attempt to steal the winning goal.

Morocco almost scored the winning goal from Nael El Ainaoui’s shot, but goalkeeper Alison Becker sent the ball into the corner, so the match ended 1-1.

Morocco and Brazil are in Group C alongside Haiti and Scotland.
