Norway striker Erling Haaland has continued to shine in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 finals campaign after scoring against Senegal in the second round of the group stage earlier today, Tuesday.
In the 48th minute of the start of the second half, Holland managed to score his first and second goals for his country, receiving a magical pass, which he skillfully turned into Edouard Mendy’s net.
He didn’t stop there as he came back to score his second goal and his country’s third in the 58th minute, capitalizing on a defensive breakdown deep in Senegal to take his tally to four goals in the current World Cup campaign.

According to the networkOptaAccording to football statistics, Holland is the sixth player in the history of the World Cup to score more than one goal in his first two games.
He explained that Haaland followed in the footsteps of Argentina’s Guillermo Stabile in the 1930 edition, Hungary’s Sándor (1954), in addition to France’s Just Fontaine (1958), Poland’s Giezgog Lato (1974) and England’s Harry Kane in the 2018 edition.
Haaland became Norway’s top scorer in World Cup history with 4 goals as he broke his partnership with Ketil Reykdal, who had previously scored in 1994 and another in 1998.
With this double, Holland increased his score to 4 goals and is second in the ranking of the best scorers of the current draw of the tournament, equal to the French Kylian Mbappé, and he is 5 goals behind the Argentinian Lionel Messi.
