A classical pianist who sued the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has lost his case after claiming he was discriminated against for his views on Israeli soldiers killing Palestinian journalists. Gillham claimed that the MSO’s cancellation of the Melbourne concert he was due to perform on 15 August 2024 was an attempt to stop him from his views on the Israeli invasion of Gaza. Justice Graeme Hill handed down the verdict on Friday, finding that the MSO would have done the same if Gillham had expressed a political belief in supporting Israel.
