Van driver gives lift to armed officer chasing suspect in Margate

The officer comes in and the sled opens the door and says, “Go, go, go! Cheer up, mate. Follow that cop.”

The officer continued to give him directions as the driver sped toward the suspect.

After chasing the suspect and another officer on foot, the van pulled over.

As he jumped out, the armed officer trained his gun on the suspect and took him into custody.

The driver, who has not been named, fled the scene after the attack on Highway Street as heavily armed police battled to protect the suspect.

“I’m glad I was of service,” said the driver, who was thanked by the officer. “That was a lot of fun.”
