Van Dijk was “surprised” by Slott’s dismissal
Netherlands star Virgil van Dijk expressed his displeasure after the 1-0 friendly defeat by Algeria at the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam today, Wednesday, before the Windmills leave for the 2026 World Cup.
“Liverpool” defender said in press statements after the match. “We will board the plane in an angry mood. We didn’t expect to lose this game.”

In another context, Van Dijk commented on the dismissal of the Reds coach, his compatriot Arne Slott, saying: “I was surprised to see the news about Arne Slott. I am grateful for what he has done for Liverpool. Hopefully Liverpool can sort things out because the season we’ve had has been below par.”

Regarding the leak of this news by some journalists, Van Dyke said: “I got off the plane on Saturday afternoon and then I saw the news was leaking. I didn’t know anything myself. Apparently, the decision was made in the morning.”
He added: “We now live in a world where everyone wants to be the first to break the news. These people (journalists) benefit. Yes…that’s the reality.”
