Valve is removing Steam gift cards due to spam


In ten years, Steam will no longer sell mobile cards in stores. In support page of spots I already am Windows CentralValve says it will no longer sell its gift cards once they expire, citing criminals who “continue to target Steam customers and other unsuspecting people.”

In its post, Valve agrees Federal Trade Commission issue describing how customer service technicians try to convince victims to buy a gift card at a store and give them a code. Valve says it has responded to these scams by working with authorities, adding warnings to gift cards, and limiting their presence in stores, but “most things have changed.”

The company, which began selling physical gift cards in 2012, expects to sell gift cards by the end of 2026. “Although we no longer sell physical gift cards, you will still have the option to use your existing Steam gift cards whenever you choose,” Valve says. It will also continue to sell digital gift cards.
