Use Tiny11 to rescue a computer running Windows 10

It’s the end of the road for Windows 10-at least, according to its end-of-life status, as defined by Microsoft. The operating system will still work, but will be more secure, and won’t get any updates or security patches (unless you pay Microsoft increase support for another year).

If you are still on Windows 10, and you do not meet them minimum requirements for Windows 11-What many older PCs don’t do-is a solution to the problem of Little11. This unofficial, stripped-down version of Windows 11 reduces clutter to make it thinner, lighter, and can run on systems that aren’t compatible with the full-fat Windows 11 released by Microsoft.

It’s not the only option available to those upgrading from Windows 10—it’s something anyone who wants a smaller version of Windows 11 can try. Remember that it is not approved by Microsoft, so there is a caveat to consider, which we will have below.

What is Tiny11?

Tiny11’s history goes back many years. Right now, in fact, that it was already Windows 11; formerly known as Tiny10. The idea is that you get a flexible version of Microsoft’s desktop, reducing clutter without cutting anything that is important to users.

Most of the pre-installed Windows 11 software is cut from Tiny11, for example. These include Email, Calendar, Alarms, Weather, and even Solitaire. You don’t get Media Player, you don’t get Microsoft Edge, and you don’t get OneDrive integration. This makes it worth a look for those who like Windows but not Microsoft’s add-ons.

There are downsides. You don’t get regular updates, you don’t get the same kind of security that Microsoft offers to authorized Windows 11 users, and you’re relying on a third-party developer to take care of your devices. This is not an unknown app – it has been tried and tested by others big technology leaves around—but it doesn’t offer the same support and responsiveness as Microsoft.

As Tiny11 is heavily discounted, you may find that there are unknown Windows 11 features or tools that you rely on that are not available. And while Tiny11 is free to download and install, you have to provide an official key to use Windows 11—so this isn’t a way to get the app for free.

If you are looking to leave Windows 10 as soon as possible and you do not want to pay anything else, then you have several other options to consider: You can install one of the many Linux products on your machine (and you will find many tips on the Internet), or you can think about it. install ChromeOS Flex.

Get started with Tiny11

There are several ways to get a bootable disk image (ISO) of Tiny11. The first step is to download the pre-made Tiny 11 ISO from the Internet Archive, such as Tiny11 24H2. Just make sure the ISO has an approved NTDV software developer listed as a sponsor of the project, and find a new one available.

The second way is to create an ISO yourself: Title to GitHub page of Tiny11, and there you can download the “tiny11maker.ps1” files (any version mentioned most recently). Then you need to grab the official WIndows 11 ISO from Microsoft, via the Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) menu.
