Iranian journalists report on the airport, bridge and communications tower being targeted.
The United States has continued to attack Iran for the sixth night in a row, with the strikes targeting the south of the country, according to local media reports.
The US military said they launched it the latest attack at 18:00 GMT on Thursday, as Iranian media reported explosions and attacks in Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, Chabahar, Iranshahr and Bandar-e Khamir.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that a US missile attack targeted an airplane in Iranshahr, while another “enemy” hit a communications tower in Bandar Abbas, cutting off power in the area.
Iran’s Fars newspaper reported that it suspected the US was attacking the bridge in Bandar-e Khamir.
These attacks – a few days after US President Donald Trump threatened to hit Iranian infrastructure – was the latest sign of the vulnerability of the US-Iran deal that the two signed last month.
The two groups accused the other of violating the memorandum of understanding (MoU) within a week. a growing struggle.
‘A time of uncertainty’
Earlier on Thursday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it carried out an attack on an airport used by the US military in Bahrain. called “brutal” US attack which forced people to evacuate a children’s cancer hospital in the southwestern city of Ahvaz.
The IRGC also claimed that Kuwait and Jordan.
The Kuwaiti military said Iran’s attacks included 32 drones and key targets, which caused damage.
Iran’s military spokesman, Mohammad Akraminia, warned that Iran’s attacks would “spread to new areas” if the US war continued.
Al Jazeera’s Aksel Zaimovic, from Doha, Qatar, said the Gulf countries are strengthening their air defenses and military preparedness for important “times of uncertainty”.
US ‘always open to diplomacy’
Earlier in the week, Trump threatened to target Iran’s electricity and bridges if the country does not return to the negotiating table, which Iran’s Brigadier General Ebrahim Zolfaghari threatened to face “damage” to regional infrastructure.
The US appeared to be doing better on Thursday, with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying Trump would make Iran “accountable”, but “always open to negotiations at the same time”.
“They (Iranian officials) have said that they want to make an agreement with the president. We are talking to them, but again, the president will not allow them to shoot at ships in the strait without paying the consequences,” said Leavitt.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that Tehran had done so they have no intention of discussing it’s the US and it’s focused on protecting the country.
Sina Azodi, assistant professor of Middle East Politics at George Washington University, said the US and Iran are “trying to force the other side to blink and listen to the other side”.
“The US side wants the Iranians to come back to the talks and listen to the Americans,” Azodi told Al Jazeera. “On the Iranian side, they want the United States to first lift the sanctions and re-establish the agreement that was reached.”
