“Currently arrangements are being made to admit and treat the patient in Germany,” said the spokesperson.

The US citizen was identified as Peter Stafford by the Serge Christian mission. Health officials around the world said Tuesday that the outbreak is rare Ebola in the DRC and Uganda has killed more than 130 people, with more than 500 suspected crimes.

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he was “deeply concerned about the scale and speed of the epidemic”.

The head of the WHO team in DRC said that he hopes that the epidemic will end in two months.

In the US, Dr Satish Pillai, director of the CDC’s Ebola response, told reporters by phone that plans are being finalized to transport six more people who appear to be at high risk to Europe.

“These people are going to Europe, including Germany, and they will be in isolation while they are being monitored,” Pillai said, adding that one person will go to the Czech Republic while the rest will go to Germany.

Pillai also emphasized that the current level of risk in the US since the outbreak is still low, saying that the CDC is working with health, state, tribal, and community departments.

Jean-Jaques Muyembe, a virologist at the National Institute of Biomedical Research in the DRC, said the country is expecting to send experimental vaccines for different strains of Ebola from the US and the United Kingdom.
