Dean led the Pharaohs to a historic World Cup win
The president of the Egyptian Football Association, Hani Abu Raida, announced the fate of the coach of the Egyptian national team, Hossam Hassan, after the team’s victory in the 2026 World Cup.
The Egyptian federation announced on its Facebook page today, Wednesday, that Abu Raida has confirmed the board’s approval to extend the contracts of Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim, the national team manager.
He added that the federation’s board of directors will finalize the procedures for renewing the contract at its next meeting after returning to Egypt, while he did not specify the details of the new contract.

The Egyptian federation’s decision came hours after Egypt were knocked out of the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup by defending champions Argentina after a tough match that witnessed some interesting events.
Egypt came close to pulling off a surprise upset over Tango after leading Tango by two until the last quarter of an hour before conceding 3 goals amid a major refereeing dispute (2-3).
Despite this, the Egyptian national team achieved a historic achievement, reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time, and also won their first victory when they beat New Zealand 3-1 in the group stage.
The delegation of the Egyptian national team is scheduled to return from the United States of America tomorrow, Friday.
59-year-old Hossam Hasan took charge of the Pharaohs national team in February 2024 and led it in 35 official and friendly matches.
Dekan led the Egyptian national team to qualification for the 2026 World Cup and 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup and the semi-finals of the Continental Championship.
