Urgent meeting.. African Union intervenes in the crisis of the new FIFA project

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has intervened in the last few hours in the crisis surrounding the new project revealed by the president of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), Gianni Infantino.

FIFA announced in an official statement on Tuesday that its president Gianni Infantino intends to sell his stake in the World Cup tournament. In the form of shares from private investors, he will assume a commissioner-like role in this new project.

Since the announcement, there have been many angry statements against Infantino and his new project, especially from the European Football Association, as well as some local federations, including England.

The last federation to comment on this crisis was Confederation of African FootballOn Wednesday, he published a statement on his official website, in which he announced that next week there will be a meeting of the Executive Committee, headed by Patrice Motsepe himself.

The statement said that this meeting is taking place after receiving an official letter from FIFA detailing the new draft, where the proposal will be examined, evaluated and studied for feedback.

CAF has called on its local federations to also study the proposal and give feedback on it, taking part in the consultation process that FIFA is currently undertaking with continental and local federations.

The African Union concluded its statement by underlining its commitment to continue consultations and joint work with its affiliate federations, as well as the International Federation and other continental federations, to support the increased financial resources needed for the development and growth of football.
