Manchester United are continuing their push to sign new deals in the summer transfer window, but their bid to bolster their midfield with one of the Premier League’s hottest talents has hit high financial demands, prompting the club’s management to reassess their stance on the deal.
Manchester United have decided to abandon the race to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after he refused to meet his club’s financial demands to agree to a move away in the summer transfer window.
According to the newspaper A mirror British. Bournemouth are asking around £70m to offload the 22-year-old England midfielder, a fee Manchester United say is excessive.
The report adds that Red Devils officials value Scott at just around £40m, prompting them to hold off on the deal for now.
The player is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, led by Arsenal, and Scott has also expressed his willingness to move to the Emirates Stadium if the two clubs agree a deal.
However, the report states that Arsenal are prioritizing Newcastle’s Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes to strengthen the midfield, which reduces the chances of Scott being included, especially as the London club do not plan to spend big on more than one player in the same position this summer.
He also indicated that Scott has reservations about his chances of playing regularly with Arsenal, given the strong competition for midfield positions.
Bournemouth are sticking to their stance as they are unwilling to sell one of their most popular players below his asking price in an attempt to get the maximum financial returns possible, forcing a move for Alex Scott this summer to be delayed until an offer approaches his financial demands.
