Monaghan’s loss to Derry was powered by eight two-pointers, but matters at the other end of the pitch could decide their fate against Armagh, with McManus Orchard identifying Orchard half-back Jarley Og Burns and Ross McQuillan – if the latter is fit after missing the game down with a calf problem – as key threats.
“Armagh’s biggest strength at the moment is their attacking play as a unit,” McManus said.
“They get behind the other team’s rearguard. Ten fisted points in any game is a fantastic stat. That’s the strength of this Armagh team, they get scores from the heart of the opposition’s defence, where any of their attacking players or runners from deep can get scores.
“That’s the strength of their game and Monaghan will be very difficult to stop.
“The big thing for me is whether Ross McQuillan is fit, who’s going to replace him and Jarley Og Barnes at wing half-back because they’ve been a huge part of what Armagh has done over the last few years but especially this year, they’ve been in really strong scoring form.
“Those match-ups will go a long way in deciding it.”
