Ukraine says Russian attack kills five in Zaporizhzhia | News of the Russia-Ukraine war

Speaking overnight, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was planning a ‘massive’ attack.

Russian troops attacked the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia with explosives, killing five people, regional governor Ivan Fedorov said.

Writing on Telegram on Saturday, Fedorov said that the Russian planes injured 11 people, and the number is rising after destroying and destroying residential and non-residential buildings.

“Experts from the state government are working at the site to document the destruction, and relief workers are removing the effects of the destruction,” he added.

In recent weeks, Russia and Ukraine have escalated tensions as talks to end the conflict continue.

On Saturday morning, an attack killed one person and injured nine others in the city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov said a woman was trapped in the rubble after a “bombshell” hit the residential area.

“Unfortunately, during the search and rescue operation, the body of the victim was found under the rubble of the building,” Terekhov said in a Telegram update.

Authorities in Kherson, southern Ukraine, reported that a 72-year-old woman was injured in a drone crash in Zelenivka.

‘Massive attack’

In his speech last night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was planning a “massive attack”.

“Tonight and in the coming hours, it is very important to pay attention to anti-aircraft fire warnings,” Zelenskyy said.

“The Russians are planning a major attack. Please take care,” he said.

Zelenskyy also confirmed that the Ukrainian military attacked an oil refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region in western Siberia.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday morning that its air defenses had shot down 187 Ukrainian unmanned vehicles across the country overnight.

The latest attacks come two days after Ukraine launched its biggest drone attack in Moscow, setting fires, hitting an oil refinery and forcing the evacuation of the country’s largest airport.
