UK weather: When will the heat wave end?

Although London and southeast England will still get temperatures of up to 27C, 28C isn’t needed to officially keep it warm.

However, Wales and south west England will remain warm away from the cold air moving in. Highs here can still reach 30C.

Until Thursday, the supply of cold air will be cut off as fresh air rises again from France. This means temperatures will rise, with a return of 30C on the cards.

Most of the weather forecast models show that cold weather will return from Friday and into the weekend.

As we head into the first week of June, the jet stream, now in the north, will shift back to the south, which means low pressure, occasional rain, strong winds and a drop in temperatures.
