UK Weather: Cooler for some over the weekend but the heat wave will continue


On Friday, the highest temperature in England was 35.2C recorded in Coton-in-the Elms, Derbyshire, while Usk, Monmouthshire saw the highest temperature in Wales at 34.3C.

Threave, Dumfries and Galloway recorded Scotland’s highest temperature of 29.7C, while the highest temperature in Northern Ireland was 27.4C in Killowen, Co. Down.

Saturday’s highest temperatures will be in the West Midlands, South East Wales and parts of southern England – up to 33C.

Brisk north-easterly winds mean temperatures will drop across the east of England.

North coasts from Northumberland to Suffolk will be cloudy and misty on Saturday but should be mostly sunny on Sunday.

Scotland and Northern Ireland will see more cloud.

Showers in eastern Scotland will die down on Sunday which will bring more sunshine.

Temperatures will be a high of 23 or 24C but eastern Scotland will be cooler.

On Sunday, as the winds pick up, temperatures in England and Wales will drop a few degrees – but it could still reach 30C in southern England.
