In his final news conference, Ilya Topuria shoved Justin Gat in front of the Lincoln Memorial before his UFC appearance on Sunday at the White House.
After both fighters predicted victory in their unification bout, Topuria, the 29-year-old lightweight champion, pushed Gaethje, the interim titleholder, who reacted by laughing at the incident.
As UFC president Dana White separated the fighters with smiles on their faces, American Gaethje Topuria asked, “Look where we are, look at this beautiful sight and do you want to be like an animal?” He hears.
Earlier, the Georgian-Spanish Topuria told the 37-year-old Gaethje that he was “going to blow the lights out in the first round.”
“I know I’m the best in the world, I know we’re going to share the same place in two days. I know I’m the best, just beat me if you can,” Topuria said.
The news conference was held two days before the event on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC.
UFC Freedom 250 is a one-of-a-kind event to mark US President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and 250 years of American Independence.
The Lincoln Memorial gave an interesting history of the Lincoln Memorial to the veterans who were in the honor guard before they left their seats.
There were some brutal moments between Topuria and Gaethje, not to mention the fight for the interim heavyweight title between France’s Cyril Gane and Brazil’s Alex Pereira in the main event.
If Pereira wins, he will become the first fighter in UFC history to win belts in three divisions and previously hold the middleweight and lightweight titles.
Earlier, Topuria described Perera as Goat (Greatest of All Time) for his achievements in the Octagon.
He is already a goat, one of the goats already, because we have many in this sport, without a doubt he is going to join that list.
The news conference was interrupted several times by American heavyweight Josh Hockitt, at one point Topuria asked the UFC to turn off his microphone.
