Eric Trump says screenshots showing a conversation with UFC commentator Daniel Cormier, which shows Trump asking if any fights at the White House event will be rigged, are fabricated.
In a now-deleted post on X, Cormier shared a screenshot of an exchange in which an account claiming to belong to Trump asked if any of the fighters on the card were injured and if any fights would be “rigged.”
In the post, Cormier wrote: “I’m probably going to get a lot of criticism for bringing this to light, but I refuse to be silent. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event.”
Trump, 42, who is the son of US President Donald Trump, said the screenshots were “AI-generated” and “fake”.
“This is totally bogus! I never reached out to Daniel. In fact, it’s scary,” Trump wrote on X.
“We are aware of fake, AI generated screenshots circulating online. I have never spoken to Daniel. He has since deleted his post, confirming that it was clearly fake.”
Cormier, 47, appeared to deny the authenticity of the posts, writing, “Are people this dumb?” “Thank you Daniel,” Trump replied.
BBC Sport has approached the UFC for comment.
The posts came ahead of the unprecedented UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House on Sunday, held on President Trump’s 80th birthday as part of the celebration of 250 years of American independence.
Eric Trump, who is the executive vice-president of his father’s administration, was in Washington DC to watch the ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House.
Cormier is a former UFC light-heavyweight and heavyweight champion and provided commentary analysis throughout the event.
