Ronda Rousey and Jake Paul lashed out at the UFC and Dana White for failing to break their MMA viewership record with the White House event last week.
The UFC 250 Freedom event at the White House reached 7 million people in the US on Paramount+.
Rousey’s 15-second destruction Gina Carano on Netflix had a US average audience of 9.3m and a US “peak audience” of 11.6m.
Paul, who co-founded MVP with Nakissa Bidarian, wrote on X: “As a boxing promoter it feels good to wake up as the biggest MMA promoter today.”
Paul has a history of taunting UFC president White, and the MVP-promoted Rousey v Carano event was positioned by boxer Paul as a “takeover” of MMA.
Rousey, who chose to fight on an MVP card instead of the UFC due to the demands of the fight purse, responded to the news of the statistics targeting UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell.
“Lmao (laughing off my ass)! Kiss my ass, Hunter Campbell,” Rousey said.
UFC White House, which featured two title fights and took place on the South Lawn of US President Donald Trump’s home, averaged 8.2 million viewers across the US and Latin America.
US broadcaster Paramount said 17 million people watched at least one minute of the show in those countries, including 15.3 million in the US.
It said live audience figures were verified by Nielsen, the TV viewership metrics reporting industry standard, and Adobe Analytics.
Streaming giant Netflix did not release any figures outside of the US and did not say whether the numbers were verified by Nielsen or any other party.
Paramount suggested that the UFC White House release more global figures for the event.
American Justin Gaethje gave the Trump-aligned event a fairy-tale feel by upsetting the odds to defeat Ilya Topuria in the main event on his 80th birthday.
Gatheje, a Trump supporter, claimed the UFC lightweight title for the first time at age 37.
