President Donald Trump compared the UFC structure being built at the White House to the Eiffel Tower, saying “they’re never going to take it down.”
In celebration of America’s 250th Independence Day on June 14, the UFC is set to stage an unprecedented show on the South Lawn, home of the United States’ flagship.
Construction has begun, with workers assembling the dome-shaped arches on the octagonal site.
Trump said he might choose to leave the stage because, like Paris deciding to keep the Eiffel Tower, “it’s attractive to a lot of people.”
The famous structure, In the year Built in 1889 as part of a world fair to celebrate 100 years of the French Revolution, it was slated for demolition before French authorities decided to keep it 20 years later.
“Many don’t know that it should have been taken down right after the World Show,” Trump tweeted on TikTok.
“You know, we liked it, they said let’s put it on for a while. Then they said, ‘Let’s leave it longer and longer,’ and they never took it down.”
“We’re building something in front of the White House that’s going to be attractive to a lot of people. And I’m looking at it and maybe we’ll never take it down.”
