Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua could take place at Wembley Stadium if authorities agree to a later start time, says Turki Alalsikh | Boxing news

The blockbuster heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could still take place at Wembley Stadium, but only if local authorities agree to hold the fight at a later than usual time.

Turki Alalsikh, who is organizing the all-British fight, said on Monday that he wanted to stage the fight at a time that worked for a global audience and was in talks with London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan to get permission to host the late-night fight in the capital.

Seeing as the main events of UK bouts tend to start somewhere between 10pm and 11pm, Alalsikh is suggesting that the much-anticipated match will start after midnight.

George Groves admits it is difficult to pick a clear winner between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua but believes Aleksandar Usyk’s influence on AJ should not be underestimated.

Speaking at an event in London, Alalsikh said: “I tell you from the start, it depends on whether England gives us what we need, we want a fight here in England.

“But we want time zones around the world, especially in America. If they allow us to be at Wembley late at night, we want to do it in England. It’s about time and audience.

“We will talk to the mayor and Crown Prince Abdullah (bin Khaled bin Sultan).”

Promoter Frank Warren provides the latest on what’s happening regarding Tyson Fury’s potential fight with Anthony Joshua.

With both former world champions competing in warm-up bouts in late July, a surprise loss or injury appears to be the only possible obstacle to their meeting moving forward, possibly in November.

Fury faces Mariusz Wach in Thailand on July 24, while Joshua faces Christian Preng a day later in Saudi Arabia.
