Determine the date of the third edition of the lottery
The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation has set the draw date for the third draw of the Gulf Champions Club League to be held between 13 October 2026 and 30 April 2027.
The Persian Gulf Federation set the date of the draw on September 9, while also confirming the increase in the number of participants in the tournament from 8 to 12 clubs, which is aimed at expanding the competition base and increasing the technical level.
The federation has adopted a new seat allocation mechanism based on the Asian Club Confederation rankings for the 2026-2027 season, with the federations of Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar and Iraq given two direct seats each, and the federations of Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Yemen one seat each.
The federation has issued an official invitation to member associations to nominate their representatives no later than two weeks from June 17, with an emphasis on selecting the highest-ranked clubs in the domestic league after excluding participants in the same season’s AFC Championship.

The federation explained in a statement on its official website “X” that it reserves the right to accept or reject any nomination that does not meet the criteria and choose an appropriate alternative to ensure the strength of the tournament.
He said he would later provide federations with organizational regulations and financial details allocated to participating clubs as part of early preparations for the start of the tournament.
These arrangements come after the remarkable success of the previous two editions, which sets the third edition to a new challenge to strengthen the tournament’s position as one of the most popular regional competitions.
It is noteworthy that Iraq’s Dohuk won the first title after defeating Kuwait’s Al-Qadisiya 2-1, and Qatar’s Al-Rayyan after defeating Saudi Arabia’s Al-Shabaab 3-0.
