With the last six spots at stake, the remaining four teams must create two dozen perfectly executed savory millefeuille and babka buns. Before that, they are tasked with making fancy biscuits inspired by the wonders of the world (hanging bourbon gardens, anyone?) accompanied by a small dollop of petit gâteaux. Ali Catterall

“I am a doctor, not a humanitarian!” The belated adaptation of Doc Martin in the US continues, with big city doctor Martin Best poking around the quaint Maine town of Port Wenn. When they are guilty of having to deal with a common leftie who has missed their monthly delivery, it can affect the whole community. Graeme Virtue
9pm, U&Alibi
It’s hammy, sure, but this Canadian cop’s performance is fun, too, with just the right amount of drama removed from the headlines. This week, an Indian wedding was thrown into chaos when the groom was stabbed and gifts were stolen. What has the college student body done with it? Hannah J Davies

This true crime series delves deep into rural Pike County, Ohio to investigate a mysterious crime. In 2016, eight members of the Rhoden family were murdered in their home. The murders seem mysterious but, using first-person testimony and reconstruction, the show unravels a murderous, family-drenching conflict. PH
11.30pm, BBC Four
Through readings, reconstructions and well-informed speeches, this comprehensive collection of histories covers the story of America’s struggle for freedom. As this final episode begins, Washington’s army is in dire straits and men are recovering from their wounds at Valley Forge. However, a new contract is formed that begins to change the composition. 2am, Sky Witness
This firefighting drama has an emotional register that goes from melodramatic to downright creepy. As it returns for its fourth season, the Cal Fire crew is still dealing with the fallout from the massive Zabel Ridge fire at the end of last season. There are losses to be mourned, but power struggles and internal politics cannot be ruled out. Maybe another big fire will help bring the team back together? Phil Harrison
The First Wives Club (Hugh Wilson, 1996), 11.15pm, Sky Cinema Greats
If Destiny’s Child were white middle-aged women, it would be Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton setting the world free in this 1996 drama. They play as old college friends who reunite at the funeral of their friend (Stockard Channing), who was driven to death by an evil ex-husband. Realizing similarities in their circumstances, the three divorcees seek righteous revenge, culminating in a song and dance set to Lesley Gore’s female empowerment group, You Don’t Own Me.
