The best travelogues can lead to surprises. So when Alexander Armstrong arrives in Philly and immediately rushes out to buy a cheese-steak, it’s hard not to panic. However, when the American odyssey begins, Armstrong is a host, although sometimes he does not feel very connected to things (see his journey to the horrors related to opioids in the city of Kensington). They are in a very safe place with a trip to the rowing club. PH
