The second part of an excellent series exploring the struggle against apartheid and the struggles of the 1980s. As Nelson Mandela’s health deteriorates, the South African government begins to see that allowing him to die in prison could lead to civil war. Meanwhile, an outdoor concert in London is featuring Jerry Dammers’ perennially controversial song, Free. Nelson Mandela. Phil Harrison

It’s the seventh installment of the series looking at “unforgettable journeys” on four cruise ships – including the Diamond Princess, which was previously home to the Covid pandemic. The story follows his arrival in Kagoshima, home to Japan’s largest volcano, and the cruise ship Discovery Princess in the spectacular wilderness of Alaska. Alex Duggins

In the final episode of the second series of the drama set inside the notorious Glasgow prison, we met the convict Frankie who discovered that he was a permanent force. It’s funny every week but in this second series finale, the hit crime thriller hits again. Diffident detective Janie (Gwyneth Keyworth) leaves Portugal for a year, disillusioned by the police she works with and sidekick John (Timothy Spall). But one has been missing at a rugby club full of fantasy. Jack Seale

An interesting mix of old and new for the final installment of this series. Shania Twain shares piano with Jools on a performance of her 1997 hit You’re Still the One. Arlo Parks presents music from his new album. And there will be spots, theater, unclear from Canada Angine de Poitrine. PH
Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story (Charlie Hamilton-James, 2024), 4.25pm, Channel 4
Molly, a young cow, is found by middle-aged couple Billy and Susan outside their remote Shetland home, starving and possibly abandoned. Charlie Hamilton-James’ heartwarming documentary follows a year in their lives as Billy nurses her back to health. It’s just the right amount of comfort, because beautiful pictures of Molly outdoors and at the beach are interspersed with pictures of Billy caring for a playful, lovable creature. And Billy and Susan’s often disturbing stories emphasize the mental health benefits of being close to nature. Simon Wardell
The Lost Boys (Joel Schumacher, 1987), 9.40pm, Sky Cinema Greats
A seminal work from the John Hughes era of US teen movies, Joel Schumacher’s bicycle flick combines a Goonies-like tapestry of unquenchable teenage passion. Jason Patric is dark-skinned and his character is Michael, the new kid in town who is attracted to the mysterious girl of Jami Gertz, who is also in danger of attack/vampire Kiefer Sutherland. Corey Haim drives the plot as Michael’s brother Sam who, with his superiors, leads the fight through water guns, cloves of garlic and instructions from a comic book. SW
