The detainees were said to have been involved in what officials called “terrorist activities” in Turkey.
Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization said the suspects were captured as part of a manhunt operation, with Turkish and Syrian agents closely monitoring their movements.
Interpol issued international notices, also known as Red Notices, for all 10 people. A Red Notice is similar to an international arrest warrant, in which Interpol asks law enforcement agencies around the world to locate and arrest a person pending extradition or surrender.
One of those arrested is said to have links with the perpetrators two bombs in the capital of Turkey, Ankara, in 2015, in which more than 100 people were killed.
Another suspect, Ali Bora, is believed to have become ISIL’s intelligence chief in Turkey after joining the group in 2014.
During interrogation, the detainees allegedly admitted to being members of ISIL and received training and operational instructions from the group.
Ankara and Damascus have grown in power since Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and his forces ousted former dictator Bashar al-Assad.
