The German coach can’t find the words to describe Harry Kane
England manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed his side are still hungry to achieve more at the 2026 World Cup, stressing that reaching the quarter-finals is just one step on the road before they face Norway on Saturday evening in the race for a place in the semi-finals.
The Three Lions are looking forward to continuing their journey in the tournament when they face Erling Haaland’s Norway amid some absences and doubts over the starting line-up.
According to the newspaper, during the pre-match press conference, Tuchel said.Brand:“The best news is that we were able to get all the players to participate in training. “All items are available except for the suspended Quansah and Jordan Henderson.”
He added: “We took a big step in the last game, but it was just one step, we still have the desire and hunger to achieve more victories.”
Declan Rice and Mark Guehy have returned to training to prepare for the clash, with Henderson missing after picking up an injury during the qualifiers in Mexico, in addition to the absence of Jarrell Quanza due to suspension.
Tuchel devoted a lot of time to praising Harry Kane, the captain of the national team, stressing that he is constantly making changes.
“We talk about Harry Kane after every match, because he always decides it,” he said.
He added: “I can’t find words to describe him, he is our leader and the best player in the team and he is in the best period of his career.”
He continued. “He is a team player and always takes responsibility. It’s an honor for him to captain England and it’s also a pleasure for me to coach him.”
The German manager has rejected the idea that he has tried to change the identity of English football since taking over.
He explained. “I don’t think I tried to change the identity of the national team, I just wanted to provide the right environment for the players so that they can do their best.”
He added: “We can play attacking football and we can play aggressively. Fighting mentality, desire and determination are part of the identity of English football and this group has those qualities at the highest level.”
Tuchel referred to the teams nominated to fight for the title, praising what France and Spain have given.
About the French national team, he said: “France was very impressive, and it is one of the most significant candidates to win the World Championship.”
As for Spain, he explained. “In big tournaments, Spain has a lot of confidence in their style of play. It never feels desperate and always believes in the possibility of scoring goals in the last minutes.”
He added: “There are only 6 teams left in the tournament. Reaching the quarter-finals represents progress, but we want more than that. I hope to meet one of these teams later.”
Tuchel concluded his speech by emphasizing his confidence in public support, saying: “I think this team has a lot to offer.”
He added: “I don’t know exactly how everyone looks at us, but I feel that the fans love this team because they see that the players give everything for the shirt.”
“We have a different style of play and we’ve seen that in qualifying and in many periods of the tournament. We can still improve, but I’m sure the fans, the kids and the football fans feel the energy this team gives off and I believe they love it.”
