Tuchel calls for the English back four to appear at the World Cup

The coach of the English national team, the German coach Thomas Tuchel, named 4 football players who will appear more often in the 2026 World Cup.

The England team finished the group stage with 7 points in the leading position, beating Croatia (4-2) and Panama (2-0) and drawing 0-0 with Ghana. A date with the Democratic Republic of Congo in the round of 32 is set amid hopes of continuing the journey to the end.

Harry Kane scored three goals, Jude Bellingham two and Marcus Rashford one in the group stage, but Tuchel expects more from the rest of the Three Lions’ attacking elements.

The German coach has called on Morgan Rodgers, Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka to “participate”, but he is confident they will.

“At some level we want these players to come in at a defining moment. Harry did it. Jude did it. I’m pretty sure Nico O’Reilly almost did that against Ghana (meaning his header hit the crossbar).

He added, according to the newspaper.subwayEnglish: “I’m sure Morgan Rodgers, Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka will do it when the time is right and we need it.”

Tuchel also noted that his players contribute to the attack without necessarily scoring or assisting.

“If you look closely, sometimes it’s just somebody trying to make room for Jude so he can shine,” he explained.

He continued his statements. “We have to work according to specific plans to increase our offensive ability. If we all play random, no one will know what the other is thinking. Jude is part of this program.”

He concluded. “We want to constantly find players in these positions and then they have to use their quality. This is what we need and what we demand.”
