Will America be excluded from the nominations for the 2031 Women’s World Cup?
A senior official in US President Donald Trump’s administration has announced that FIFA has informed President Trump that the United States is a candidate to host the 2031 Women’s World Cup.
The head of the US World Cup Committee, Andrew Giuliani, has revealed that hosting the 2031 Women’s World Cup in the United States could be linked to FIFA’s position on the participation of transgender athletes.
Executive Director of the White House World Cup Task Force Giuliani said. Press releasesFIFA has informed President Donald Trump that the United States is bidding to host the 2031 Women’s World Cup.
The Trump administration has made clear that its participation in the tournament will depend in part on how compatible FIFA’s policies are with current American trends that seek to exclude transgender athletes from women’s competitions.
Giuliani explained that the issue could become part of broader negotiations between the US government and FIFA regarding hosting arrangements, which typically include obligations related to visas, security, customs procedures and tax arrangements as key guarantees the international organization requires from host countries.
The remarks by a US official, Politico reported on July 16, reflect the Trump administration’s tendency to insert its domestic priorities into even major sports documents as the United States prepares to host another world event long after President Trump’s second term ends.
